Online therapy for stress management and problem-solving
I am a mental health social worker by background and I currently work as a stress management therapist.
I have always had a genuine interest in how some people with a history of mental health problems succeed in overcoming negative thinking without seeking professional help. This is not by any means to suggest that professional help should be done without but I believe that elf-regulation is achievable and it is all about how our perceptions of reality shape the meaning we assign to life events. To this effect, it is crucial to realize that unhealthy levels of stress result from how we approach life, and said approach is shaped by the choices we make.
My approach
How will you be supported? You will be empowered to leverage your inner resources to help yourself. It is about developing an understanding of why things happen the way they do and seeking evidence for the beliefs that we hold about things. For example, believing that I am a failure because I have not landed my dream job can be demoralizing but it is important to prioritize seeking feedback rather than have the unwanted experience shape my self-esteem which will in turn rip into my sense of identity. We all go through these states be it because of self-perceived societal pressure, unhealthy comparisons, or personal standards.
To counteract this mindset, we need to understand that there is absolutely nothing external that can meet our internal needs. Therefore, there is absolutely nothing in this world that can fulfill us in life, but the way we feel…how we think…how we respond to situations…
The aim is for you to always bear in mind that stress is our reaction and resistance to a stressor. The problem here is not knowing the stressor, our enemy which makes us unable to win the battle. Through an integrative approach to stress, you will be empowered to identify your stressors and take massive action to control whatever is dominating your life. Inevitably this means taking responsibility for your life and taking pride in being the one person who’s responsible for writing your next chapter…
This means developing problem-solving skills by starting from a place of self-introspection.
To accomplish this, you will need to identify what drives you at the core, what motivates you, and your core values and understand whether you are suppressing any of those in favor of your own survival needs. For example, you have elected to be in a relationship that’s perhaps fulfilling you emotionally but you don’t feel is a reflection of everything else you need and deserve for sharing with another person the most important thing you have, your time that is…
To begin with, we will conduct a free 15-minute phone or video call with no further obligation. This is so you can ask any questions and decide whether the approach on offer is right for you. If you want to proceed, then we will arrange a suitable appointment time.
Pricing wise the aim is to make sessions affordable and to provide you with the tools to achieve full independence in taking care of your stress levels. Session times are for one hour. Sometimes great change can take place quickly. Most often you will need a course of sessions scheduled at regular intervals for full and complete transformation to take place. I will give you a rough estimate of how many sessions you are likely to need, so we can determine the cost together to offer you a reasonble price across as many sessions as you need.
